Composition Each capsule contains: Ferrous sulfate — 114 mg (equivalent to elemental iron II) — 35 mg D,L-serine — 129 mg Folic acid — 500 μg Vitamin B12 (cyanocobalamin) — 9 μg Pharmacological properties Iron-replenishing and anti-anemic agent. Iron is a trace element that is part of hemoglobin, myoglobin and certain enzymes. It reversibly binds oxygen, participates in a number of oxidation-reduction reactions and stimulates erythropoiesis. Ferrous sulfate is an optimal form for intestinal iron absorption. The amino acid D,L-serine contributes to more efficient iron absorption and increases iron absorption up to 20-fold. At the same time, iron absorption in the intestine from Ferractin is almost complete. This allows the iron dose to be reduced, providing better tolerability and a significant reduction in the frequency of adverse effects. Folic acid participates in the synthesis of amino acids and nucleic acids, stimulates hematopoiesis, promotes iron absorption and supports lactation. Folic acid is necessary during pregnancy, especially in the third trimester, for healthy fetal development and to reduce the risk of fetal nervous system defects. Vitamin B12 participates in DNA synthesis and is an important factor in growth and hematopoiesis, including the formation and maturation of red blood cells. It is necessary for folate metabolism and the development of the fetal nervous system. Indications Iron-deficiency anemia of various etiologies. Latent iron deficiency associated with excessive iron loss (bleeding, including uterine bleeding; regular blood donation) or increased iron requirements (pregnancy, lactation, periods of active growth, inadequate nutrition, chronic gastritis with secretory insufficiency, conditions following gastric resection, gastric and duodenal ulcer disease, decreased resistance to infectious diseases and tumors in adults and children). Contraindications Hypersensitivity to any component of the product Hemosiderosis Hemolytic anemia Exacerbation of peptic ulcer disease Children under 5 years of age Adverse effects Rarely: a feeling of heaviness in the epigastric region, flatulence, constipation or diarrhea. These effects disappear when the dose is reduced. Dosage and administration Take during meals. The daily dose is determined depending on the patient’s hemoglobin level, body weight and age. Capsules should be taken with a sufficient amount of water. Children aged 5–12 years:1 capsule 1–2 times daily. Adults, pregnant women and children over 12 years: Mild anemia: 1 capsule once daily. Severe anemia: 1 capsule 2–3 times daily. Course of treatment: 2–3 months. Storage conditions Store at room temperature 15–25°C, in a dry place protected from light and out of reach of children.
